How to Access Designation Exams
for the CSEP/CSRP Programs

1. Contact the National Institute to obtain an authorization code for the course.
   
2. Log on to the National Institute's website, www.niepe.org.
   
3. On the website's home page, click on the "Take an Exam" box on the left side of the screen.
   
4. Click on the designation program in which you are enrolled (Certified Specialist in Estate Planning® or Certified Specialist in Retirement Planning®).
   
5. Choose the title of the course from the list on the screen.
   
6. On the next screen, please enter your authorization code in the space provided (ex: GATE3019480), and click on the box that says "Go."
   
7. The next screen has basic instructions for completing the exam. When you click the "Continue" box at the bottom of the screen, the test begins immediately. The first question appears, and the timer begins. You must answer the questions in the order in which they are presented.
   
   Please Note: You must click the circle beside your chosen answer as well as the "Go" button to record your answer. If the time expires before you have done both of these things, no answer is recorded and the question is marked as incorrect.
   
8. When you finish the exam, you are informed of your score. The grade is transferred into the National Institute's records. If you do not pass, you may obtain a new code to take the test again for a fee of $30. You may either contact the National Institute with credit card information, or you may mail a check to our office.

****IMPORTANT:

It is best to take the test using a recent version of Internet Explorer. It is not recommended that you take the test using the AOL browser. If you experience technical problems or you have an emergency while taking the exam, you may find the following information helpful. Click on the Back box at the top left corner of the screen until you are out of our website, and then exit the Internet COMPLETELY. When you are ready to resume the test, go back into the website using the same instructions and authorization code, and the system should take you back to the question you were working on before being disconnected. Please contact the National Institute if you continue to have technical problems.
